Former Texas Ranger John Checker doesn’t realize the

Riding with the Ranger to find them are a border outlaw, a farmboy and a savvy black drover -- and a wolf as his spirit guide.  Star McCallister, the evil half-brother of John Checker, former Texas Ranger, escapes from the Dodge City jail, along with his gang, where they awaited hanging. He was helped by his younger brother, Blue McCallister, a killer-for-hire who now presents himself as "Dr. Gambree" and travels with a medicine wagon show. The freed gang ride for the homestead of John Checker's sister as the ultimate way to hurt him. They kill his sister's husband, nearly kill her, burn their home and kidnap her children. Star intends to trade the youngsters to Comancheros in the Indian Nations before riding on. Tyrel Bannon, Sonny Jones and Jackson -- Triple C drovers still in town after the drive -- ride with Checker to find them. Checker turns to the the spiritual advice from a dead friend, a Comanche war chief, to track them. Checker nearly becomes his own worst nightmare, his raging evil father, in the ultimate confrontation with his evil half-brothers.
